With over 18 years’ experience in business to business finance, I pride myself on having a keen eye for detail, coupled with an excellent network of finance and non-finance professionals, colleagues and friends.
As half Yorkshire and half Scottish, I know the value of money, straight talking and tradition.
When I started out in finance, I remember the buzz I got from funding customers projects or asset purchases and seeing how that helped their business grow. That feeling was addictive and ultimately, I went on to share this when I managed an asset finance team in the Midlands.
In 2009 I took the decision to step away from providing new finance, to helping those customers who found that meeting their commitments would not be possible without financial help. Over 7 years I had many successes in helping businesses restructure, refinance and orderly dispose of debt and assets.
I found working with owner managed and SME customers particularly rewarding, as I could directly see what impact delivering solutions for these businesses had. Put simply, it meant that with my help and the customers dedication, hard work and tough decisions, the business owners and staff stood the best chances of recovering from the challenges they faced, whilst providing the opportunity of a future which had on many occasions looked so bleak.
Having now co established Custom Business Finance, I have the chance to use my experience, knowledge and contacts to help fund, grow or restructure your business needs.

I started my career in finance over 16 years ago working for Lombard in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, where I progressed from processing new business deals to being a Relationship Manager, within four years. After a successful 14-year career at Lombard, I moved to Santander Corporate Banking as Director of Asset Finance for the South Yorkshire and Humber region. My experience working for the largest asset finance company in the UK and a large corporate bank, has gained me exposure to a number of sectors including engineering, transport, construction, agriculture, printing and more.
I have forged a name for myself across South Yorkshire as a hardworking, honest, and reliable individual. I am able to develop strong working relationships with businesses of all sizes from new start-ups to multimillion pound organisations. I thrive on being able to make a real difference to my clients and helping their businesses grow. Working with a wide array of businesses has given me a real insight into the day to day challenges they face on a daily basis. Being able to present commercially sound and well-structured funding solutions to aid these challenges is highly rewarding.
When I’m not working, I’m either trying to improve my golf handicap or spending time with my young family and friends.

After graduating from Hull University in 2003 I started employment for Lombard part of the RBS Group shortly afterwards.
Gaining experience as ‘back office’ processor I veered my way through various departments including debt management, corporate restructuring, insolvency and litigation.
Acquiring a fine taste for client satisfaction and problem solving, I quickly moved into a relationship management role which enhanced my career quickly. This saw me meander successfully through various roles across Yorkshire and the East Midlands.
In these roles I supported ‘business-to-business’ clients that required assistance in an asset finance capacity. Turnover bandings ranged from small SME’s to larger multi-million-pound PLC’s across a wide sector base including construction, agriculture, aerospace, motorsport, engineering, manufacturing, transport and many more.
More recently as a Business Development Director leading origination, my primary role was to generate new business and support businesses across Yorkshire, Humber and North Derbyshire with their ‘cap-ex’ investments. I was tasked in an asset finance capacity to structure, support and help businesses in the SME, mid & large corporate space.
Over my 14-year career in finance (banking & asset finance) I have developed a wide range of industry recognised skills ranging from financial feasibility assessment, market awareness & analysis, client development, deal structuring along with relationship management.
This experience is transferrable and I aim to develop on existing relationships held along with forging new relations across the region.
As I take my seat as a Director and Co-Owner in Custom Business Finance Ltd I look forward to working with you in the months and years to come.
I started my banking career in 2004, working for Barclays Bank in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. With a bubbly personality and a love for meeting new people, I started as a Personal Banker. In this role, I enjoyed supporting my clients, looking after their everyday banking needs. After a very enjoyable year, I was promoted to a Business Manager, where I became heavily involved in providing lending solutions to a portfolio of clients, to help maintain and grow their businesses.
Realising that this was my passion, I decided to move to Lombard Asset Finance, the largest Asset Finance company in the UK. I enjoyed a successful 10-year career with Lombard, having completed a number of roles. This has enabled my knowledge and skill set in this sector to enhance and blossom.
Most recently, I was the Senior Relationship Manager, covering Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. In all the roles that I have undertaken at Lombard, I have supported many clients who required asset finance assistance. My clients consisted of Private Individuals, Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies, across numerous sectors and asset categories.
I am very excited to take up my new role with Custom Business Finance. I am a hardworking, honest, flexible and a reliable individual. I thrive to make a real difference to my clients and their individual needs, by working together to fully understand the business and the plans that it has going forward.

PROPERTY FINANCE CONSULTANT
With 40 years’ experience in the banking sector, I have worked with two of the major High Street Banks, Lloyds and Santander, with the majority of that time spent in the Commercial Banking arena.
With five years in Credit Sanctioning at Lloyds bank, I developed a tremendous advantage for operating on the front-line. I became skilled in structuring and appraising property deals, resulting in additional specialised training through Reading University in the property sector.
Armed with the specialist knowledge, I was tasked with building a property portfolio across South Yorkshire, Humberside and beyond…or basically anywhere there was a deal to be done. Over several years, I built a highly successful and remunerative property portfolio for the bank and its clients. This involved Residential Investment Property portfolios, Commercial Property portfolios and developments.
I am extremely proud that throughout the recession I continued to provide financial solutions to property investors and developers, whilst many competitors closed their doors.
As a highly experienced individual in the property sector with a proven track record of successfully delivering funding solutions, providing added value and shaping deals that deliver customer first solutions, I pride myself on my honest and direct approach to business. When I’m not analysing the debt servicing capability of rental income, visiting building sites and climbing ladders or risk profiling commercial leases, I enjoy spending time with my partner and family, gardening, travelling and following my beloved football team from the blue and white half of Sheffield.
