With over 20 years’ experience in business-to-business finance, I pride myself on having a keen eye for detail, coupled with an excellent network of finance and non-finance professionals, colleagues and friends.
Throughout my industry experience I have worked with companies which are owner-managed right through to large corporates and PLCs. The businesses I’ve continually worked with operate in nearly every sector and industry, throughout the UK.
Over the years I have had many successes in helping businesses finance assets, working capital, restructure, refinance, right through to orderly disposal of debt and assets.
Whether working with owner-managed SME clients or large corporates and PLCs, I thrive on seeing the impact of delivering solutions for our customers and playing a part in their success.
In my spare time I enjoy quality time with my family, work on reducing my golf handicap, the occassional mountain walk along with mountain biking.

I have 20 years plus experience working for some of the UK's largest financiers in Lombard and Santander and now I am co owner in Custom Business Finance based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
I have reputation for being hardworking, honest, and a reliable individual. I pride myself on building strong working relationships with businesses of all sizes, from new start-ups to multimillion pound organisations.
I thrive on being able to make a real difference to my clients and helping their businesses grow. Working with a wide array of businesses has given me a real insight into the day-to-day challenges that different businesses face. Being able to present commercially sound and well-structured funding solutions to aid these challenges is highly rewarding.
When I’m not working, I’m either trying to improve my golf handicap or spending time with my young family and friends.

David Catling

I started my career at the RBS Group specifically Lombard Asset Finance in 2003 after graduating with an honours degree in Business and Marketing from Hull University. Having undertaken various roles spanning 6 Counties across many years, I developed many skills, which allowed me to transfer them to Custom Business Finance when we set the business up in 2016.
I have a genuine passion for finance and enjoy supporting our clients’ ambitions. We get involved in some exciting projects, small and large for all sorts of things such as asset finance and asset re-finance, commercial property, property development, invoice discounting and working capital solutions. Clients can range from new start ups to SMEs to large corporate PLC entities spanning a diverse sector base.
In my spare time, I enjoy working out on my spin bike, coaching my twin boys football team, walking, visiting pubs and dining out restaurants with family and friends.

Helen Stinson

I have 20 years’ experience within the finance sector commencing my first role at Lombard. I am proficient in all aspects of relationship management, payment processing, documentation and customer service. In 2007 I was promoted to the role of Assistant Relationship Manager and relocated to London. There, I was responsible for supporting a team of Relationship Managers and their portfolio of customers.
In 2011 I returned to my Rotherham roots and began a series of Relationship Management support roles assisting various clients, including Private Individuals, Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies, across numerous business sectors. 2018 saw me complete 17 years’ service with Lombard and with it came the realisation it was time for a new challenge.
In my current role at Custom Business Finance I feel honoured to be part of a business that is completely dedicated to putting customers at the heart of all that we do.
Away from work, I enjoy travelling, long walks in the countryside, listening to music and the occasional glass of red wine - hiccup.
I very much look forward to working with you in the future and supporting all of your business needs.

Ben Brown

I left college with strong qualifications and started employment at a local comprehensive school where I worked in their ICT department. After a year or so I moved into a classroom teaching environment having completed a HLTA qualification. This elevated my communication and interpersonal skills as I was more involved with behaviour management and in charge of external provision.
Working with people and making a difference is a real passion of mine so now having the opportunity to work at Custom Business Finance in a different environment was an opportunity I grabbed with both hands.
In my spare time I enjoy socialising, spending time with family, mixing with friends and going to the gym as often as I can.
I look forward to working with new acquaintances as I develop new skills with CBF.
